Just unboxed the SmallRig Mount Support for the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P / 4 / 3 and Xtra Muse — SKU 6003, the little aluminium bracket that finally gives the Pocket somewhere to mount things.

Anyone who shoots with an Osmo Pocket knows the trade-off: the camera is wonderfully small, but there is almost nothing to attach to. No cold shoe, no side thread, nothing to hang a mic, a light or a lanyard on. This support clips around the body and gives all of that back.

What’s in the Box

  • Mount support × 1 — CNC aluminium, matte black
  • Hand strap × 1 — for the lanyard hole, so the camera never leaves your wrist
  • Warranty card × 1

Packaging is plain recycled cardboard with the usual CE / RoHS compliance marks and SmallRig’s “FREE YOUR DREAM” slogan along the bottom edge — nothing flashy, which suits a $35 accessory fine.

Key Features

  • Bidirectional magnetic quick release — the camera drops on either way round, so you can flip the screen to face you without taking the mount off
  • Two 1/4″-20 locating holes on the sides for threaded handles, magic arms and the like
  • Cold shoe mount — a DJI Mic 2 or a small light sits directly on top
  • Arca-Swiss compatible base plate — drops straight onto an Arca tripod head
  • Three roles in one — Arca plate, magnetic back plate for flat metal surfaces, or a fold-out desktop stand
  • Aluminium alloy, 92 g, 78.2 × 46.6 × 45.1 mm
  • Strap hole and card slot stay clear without removing the support

First Impressions

Out of the box it feels denser than the photos suggest — proper machined aluminium rather than a plastic shell, with a ribbed grip pad across the quick release plate and a knurled knob on the hinge that locks the fold-out plate at whatever angle you set. The little silver slider with the white arrow marking makes the release direction obvious, and the whole thing adds noticeably less bulk than I expected for something that turns a pocket camera into a rig.

The real test is whether it stays comfortable in the hand for one-handed shooting with the strap attached, and whether the magnetic back plate holds firm enough to trust on a metal surface. I’ll update this post once I’ve actually shot with it — a bracket like this lives or dies on the fit, and no amount of photos tells you that.

Have you used SmallRig’s Pocket accessories? Curious whether the Arca-Swiss base has been useful for anyone shooting video off a tripod. 📷
